“Is there room for Me here?”

When the “Christmas Season” starts before the last of the Turkey leftovers are gone it can be hard to really enter into the Advent Season. The Christmas music keeps getting louder and the idea of finding silence in this season seems daunting.

But the Church invites us to do just that. To step away from the stores, the kitchen, and the parities, and back to the dusty paths leading to Bethlehem to walk with Mary and Joseph. To find silence in our hearts so that we can hear the whispered question, “Is there room for Me here?”.

Here are a few resources to help you and your family make room in your hearts and home for Baby Jesus:

United States Council of Catholic Bishop’s Advent Resources  – A collection of activities and reflections for each day.

The Definitive Guide to Advent and Christmas – Our Sunday Visitor’s guide to Advent and Christmas.

Expecting a Miracle: Advent by the Nativity scene – Our Sunday Visitor’s four-part reflection on using the Nativity scene to enter into the Advent Season.

Bishop Barron’s Daily Advent Reflections – Sign up to receive Bishop Barron’s daily reflection by email.

Dynamic Catholic’s Best Advent Ever – Sign up to receive daily videos to help you make this your best Advent ever.

Advent activities, crafts, and games for kids – Prepared by a teacher and DRE these activities can be done and home or in the classroom and can be adapted to different age groups.

How to make a good Confession – the Church invites us to go to Confession during the Advent Season. This is a guide to walk you through how to make a good Confession.

We hope that these resources help you to find moments of silence during this Advent Season so that you are prepared to welcome Jesus into your world again!
