Early Childhood Education

Foundation for Life

Research has shown that students who participate in early childhood education are better prepared to succeed academically and socially in kindergarten and beyond. We are proud to offer preschool and/or pre-kindergarten programs in each of our 16 elementary schools. The students in these programs are integrated into the life of the school and bring unmatched energy and enthusiasm to the school community. It is a gift to partner with parents to ensure that students have a foundation for success in our schools and life.

Holistic

Our dedicated teachers create a warm, nurturing environment where each individual child can develop and learn. Teachers work one-on-one with students to help them develop cognitively, physically, emotionally / socially, and spiritually.

• Cognitive – Our curriculum is challenging, integrated, investigative, and hands on. Students receive developmentally appropriate instruction that prepares from for kindergarten and beyond.
• Physical – Movement is an important part of a child’s development. Through activities inside and outside the classroom and dedicated Physical Education classes students learn to control their bodies and direct their energy towards accomplishing their goals.
• Emotional / Social  – Through project-based learning students work in partners and groups to develop life skills such as problem-solving, empathy, respect, cooperation, conflict resolution, and manners. Students learn to authentically love by helping other members of our school and caring for needs above their own, just as in a family.
• Spiritual – Our schools provide a faith-based education in which students build and deepen their relationship with Christ and learn about Catholic principles, values, and traditions. Students and staff live the faith through daily prayer, the sacraments, and community service. We welcome families of all backgrounds to join our family.

School-Based

Because our preschool and pre-k programs are integrated with our schools students have access to specials such as music, art, technology, and world languages. While they have their own dedicated space inside and outside, they benefit from interacting with older students during all school events. Being in a school allows students to adjust to the academic environment and makes the transition to kindergarten easier.

Flexible

Most of our schools offer half and full day options as well as 2, 3, 4, or 5 day weeks. They also have before and after school care to accommodate working families schedules. Schools with space take students who are at least 2.9 years old on a rolling basis after they are potty trained.

Accredited

All of our preschool and pre-kindergarten programs are accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEAS&C).  Some also have accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
