Anna Manny has been named nurse manager for the Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools.

FALL RIVER – Longtime New Bedford St. James St. John School’s nurse Anna Manny has been named the nurse manager for the Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools.

In her new role, which will take effect on Nov. 1, she will support the 19 Catholic schools from Attleboro to Cape Cod on a part time basis, in addition to maintaining her current role at St. James St. John School.

While all Catholic schools have had nurse coverage prior to Covid-19, the continued challenges posed by the pandemic raises the need for a highly qualified and experienced school nurse to oversee the 25 nurses who work at the individual school level, according to the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Fall River.

“Navigating the ever changing requirements of Covid has been challenging for school nurses,” said Superintendent Daniel S. Roy, in a prepared statement.  “Anna’s front line expertise and understanding of school nursing will be a great benefit to ensuring all school nurses follow consistent guidelines.”

Praising Manny’s depth of knowledge and skills from her experience as a school nurse, Roy said Manny will be a welcome addition to the team.

“Her ability to interpret medical data and its application to the school setting will help ensure the safety of our students, faculty and families,” he said.

St. James St. John School’s Principal Cristina Viveiros-Serra, who has worked with Manny for over a decade, said Manny has truly been a “blessing” to the New Bedford school.
