Meet Bishop Connolly High School’s Top 10 graduates of 2023

FALL RIVER — The following students were named to the Top 10 of Bishop Connolly High School’s class of 2023.
1. Anya Costello, daughter of Christopher and Audra Costello of Fall River, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023. Anya was named a 2023 National Merit Finalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language). Throughout her years at Bishop Connolly, Anya dedicated her time and talent to the championship Debate Team, of which she was named captain, as well as the cross country and track teams. She also served as a Student Ambassador for Connolly. A published author, Anya will attend Princeton University this fall, where she plans to major in mathematics and minor in creative writing.
2. Elizabeth LaCroix, Salutatorian of the Class of 2023, is the daughter of Peter and Colleen LaCroix of Fall River. Elizabeth is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language), and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor. During her high school career, Elizabeth served as captain of the championship Debate Team and as a Student Ambassador. She was also a member of the Student Council and the volleyball team. After graduation, Elizabeth plans to major in English at Boston College.
2. Cora Simone, Salutatorian of the Class of 2023, daughter of Eric and Karen Simone of Tiverton, RI. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language) and is an AP Scholar with Honor. Over the past four years, Cora was a member and captain of the championship Debate Team, captain of the swim team, treasurer of the Interact Club, and member of the Student Council. Cora plans to study mathematics and economics at Hamilton College this fall.
3. Bethany Slivka is the daughter of Michael and Raelyn Slivka of Dighton Bethany is a member of the National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language), the National Art Honor Society, and was named an AP Scholar. A talented artist, Bethany has earned a myriad of art awards, including First Place in Mayor Coogan and Viva Fall River’s YOU(th) MATTER Art Contest, two Gold Keys, two Silver Keys, and a Silver Key Portfolio in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. She also was recognized as a Massachusetts Amazing Emerging Young Artist with an acceptance into the Massachusetts Art Educator’s Recognition Virtual Juried Exhibit for three consecutive years. Additionally, Bethany was a dedicated member of the basketball and soccer teams, the latter for which she was named captain and MVP. Bethany has enrolled in the Honors Program at Lesley University, where she will continue her soccer career and major in animation & motion media with a minor in visual FX.
4. Nathan Kuznar is the son of Joseph and Jessica Kuznar of Fall River. Nathan is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language), and was recognized as an AP Scholar. Throughout his years at Bishop Connolly, Nathan dedicated his time to the football, lacrosse, and golf teams. This fall, Nathan will be attending Providence College, where he plans to major in finance.
5. Bella Simoes is the daughter of David Simoes and Bethany Simoes of Fall River. Bella is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedade Honoraria Hispánica (Portuguese language). During her years at Bishop Connolly, Bella dedicated her time and talents to the basketball and softball teams. After graduation, Bella plans to attend Assumption University and will study clinical counseling psychology in the BA/MA Dual Degree Program.
6. Molly Sandborg, the daughter of William and Sally Sandborg of Fall River. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedade Honoraria Hispánica (Portuguese language). Next year, Molly will major in English and minor in women and gender studies at Emmanuel College.
7. Alexis Moreira, daughter of Kenneth and Michelle Moreira of Fall River. Alexis is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedade Honoraria Hispánica (Portuguese language). Over the past four years, Alexis was a dedicated member of the volleyball and cheer teams. This fall, Alexis will attend Rollins College as a psychology major and business minor.
8. Daniel Reynolds, the son of Mary Varao Reynolds of Fall River and Daniel Reynolds of Fairhaven, is the eighth-ranked student in the Class of 2023. Daniel is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedade Honoraria Hispánica (Portuguese language). He will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute this fall, where he plans to major in computer science with a concentration in cybersecurity.
9. Rose Hook, daughter of Terence and Kathleen Hook of Newport, RI. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language). Throughout her years at Bishop Connolly, Rose participated on the soccer and lacrosse teams, and most recently was a member of the championship Debate Team. Rose will attend the University of Vermont, where she plans to study pharmacology with a minor in business administration.
10. Brayden Quinn, the son of James and Lori Quinn of Westport, is ranked tenth in the Class of 2023. Brayden is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish language). Over the past four years, Brayden dedicated his time and talents to the track and tennis teams. This fall, Brayden plans to study mechanical engineering at Stonehill College.
