New Bedford’s Holy Family Holy Name School hires new school nurse
Crystal Collette is the new school nurse at New Bedford’s Holy Family Holy Name School.

NEW BEDFORD – Crystal Collette, a former staff nurse at Southcoast Hospital Group, has been hired by New Bedford’s Holy Family Holy Name School (HFHN).
“Working at Holy Family Holy Name is an exciting new venture for me,” said Collette in a prepared statement. “In addition to the challenges from the pandemic, managing the health of children is so important to me. I am amazed and impressed with the protocols and safety measures implemented in the school to keep everyone as safe as possible. It is truly a blessing to work with these kids and staff.”
Collette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing through UMASS Dartmouth. She is also a graduate of Bristol Community College, where she received an Associate degree in Nursing. She previously worked as a staff nurse at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She has additional experience working as a staff nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
Deacon Peter Schutzler, principal of Holy Family Holy Name School, said Collette’s attention to detail and dedication to children will greatly benefit HFHN’s school community.
“The health challenges from the Covid pandemic are historical and never before was it more important to have a school nurse on staff,” he said in a press release.
Daniel S. Roy, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Fall River, highlighted the important role school nurses are currently playing across the Diocese.
“Crystal is a part of a wonderful team of nurses who are on the front lines of the safety and health of our school communities,” he said in a prepared statement. “Our schools have been open for over three months and we could not have accomplished this without the commitment from our school nurses.”
